Mastercraft British Tour
Final Stop
& British Nationals
15-16th July 2000
The day started with the women's slalom. The makings of a great day's skiing at John Battleday Waterski, Reading. Sarah Gatty-Saunt put in a comading performance winning the elimination round by almost a full pass. As the mean took to the water, the clouds came in, with a few of the early runners getting wet from above as well as below. The rain didn't last, and with the sun poking through the men's slalom took on a tremendous pace with Danny Budd setting an early mark of 5@12. The glory lasted until the final skiers were on the dock. Jodi Fisher, Will Asher, Matthew Southam, Shawn Bronson, Jeremy Newby-Ricci, and Glenn Campbell all skiing into 11.25 metres, with last off the dock Glenn putting in the best performance of the day.
The tricks aslo saw Sarah at the top, followed by Marie Toms. In the men's tricks Chris Shaw leads the guys into the final, after a poor performance from Jason Seels (the wind did pick up a lot just before Jason started his run.) Craig McCulloch showed the Reading crow the first flip of the day, but that wasn't enough to get him into tomorows final. Despite Jason's early fall in his hand run, he still managed to cram enough points in to beat Craig into the final by 390 points.
The jump saw the favourites on top, with Jason and Sarah leading the skiers into the Jump final. A brave performance from Damien Sharman, following his crash in the USA earlier this year means that he will be joining his mate, Jason, in the Jump finals tomorrow. Danny Budd had the rescue team in a panic as on his 2nd jump his skis decided to move over his head leaving Danny belly-up and heading for a big back slap. However Danny's awsome power meant that he pulled to back and the rescue team could breathe again.
